Loss means many things to many people. For some it’s the loss of a loved one or employment, for others it may be the loss of a friendship or a marriage. And, although we consciously feel the loss, subconsciously the experience of loss means so much more.
For example, the impact of losing a loved one or becoming unemployed extends to the loss of a routine, support, income, a purpose, connection and to many an identity. When one experiences the loss of a friendship or marriage, the impact extends to the loss of certainty, trust, companionship, dreams and beliefs.
Choosing to recognize and become self-compassionate during times of loss are the keys that open the doors to healing and new beginnings.
