When we need to express feelings of disappointment, it is best to follow these five simple guidelines:

  1.  Choose a neutral, calming place.  Perhaps somewhere in nature or at a beach.
  2.  Choose a time when you are not so tired.   i.e., 10 pm may not be the best time.
  3.  Choose first person words – i.e.,  I feel _____ NOT you made me feel _____
  4. Decide to listen to understand in the present and not from a previous disappointment.
  5. Decide before starting that there will be a resolve and a healing.
